ROBERTO CARLOS ÁLVAREZ MARTÍNEZ
I was born in Bacalar, Quintana Roo, on October 10, 1973, the fifth of six siblings. A natural-born painter who, from an early age, discovered a gift that would become a central part of his life’s journey. Son of Roberto Álvarez Quemé (farmer) and Socorro Martínez Sarmiento (homemaker). It was in Bacalar where he began his studies in kindergarten and later graduated from CREN “Javier Rojo Gómez” with a Bachelor's Degree in Primary Education.
His passion for sculpture, music, and poetry plays a key role in the themes of his works, creating a surreal world. He has participated in both group and solo exhibitions in cities such as Bacalar, Chetumal, Playa del Carmen, and Mexico City, as well as in school contests throughout his academic life.
His love for muralism has led him to express various themes inspired by his imagination, painted in different locations across the state of Bacalar: at Normal Javier Rojo Gómez and the CAM, in Calderitas , elementary school 27 de Septiembre, and in Playa del Carmen at elementary school "Maestro Mexicano."
He served as a drawing and painting teacher at U.T. in Solidaridad during the 2005–2006 academicyear.
He was also a drawing and painting instructor during two terms at the Casa de la Cultura de Playa del Carmen.
He currently resides in Playa del Carmen, where he works as a teacher at elementary school“Maestro Mexicano T.M.” and Rafael Kantún Chí T.V.
