DAVID EDUARDO MUÑOZ MAY
Bachelor of Visual Arts
He was born on January 7, 1997, in the town of Buctzotz, Yucatán, Mexico.
His parents are originally from Buctzotz, Yucatán, named María Lorenza May Ek and Genaro Muñoz Burgos, whose professions are homemaker and farmer, respectively.
He attended kindergarten at Jardín de Niños Emiliano Zapata in Buctzotz, Yucatán.
He completed his primary education at Eligio Ancona Castillo School in his hometown Buctzotz.
He attended Secundaria Técnica Número 11 for middle school.
For high school, he studied at Colegio de Bachilleres Plantel 04.
In 2003, he participated in a visual arts diploma program, including both theoretical and practical courses, as well as in a drawing and visual perception workshop taught by Mtro. Per Anderson. He also participated in the art exhibition “La ilusión del sueño y la realidad” in Calkiní, Campeche.
As part of SEP Strategic Projects 2008–2009, he worked as a teacher in the Centro de Formación Básica y Sensibilización Artística at the primary and secondary levels. This was an experimental project to develop visual arts content for various grade levels.
In 2016, he coordinated the exhibition and interactive tour Conoce a mi manera (“Get to Know My Way”), aimed at people with visual impairments, in which students of anthropology, tourism, and psychology from UADY participated.
That same year, he served as an examiner for the professional exam of high school graduate Gabriela Mejía García.
From 2014 to 2020, he served as head of the visual arts area for the project Crear, Crecer y Cuidar, an alternative to transform basic education. This project was implemented in the elementary schools Arcadio Tuz Chan in Cholul, Cantamayec, and Francisco J. Mújica in Cantamayec, and included the staging of various multidisciplinary events in those communities (Kellogg Foundation).
In 2020, he taught a FONCA diploma course aimed at cultural promoters from the central-southern region of the state.
From 2021 to 2024, he worked as an arts teacher at Secundaria Técnica No. 11.
From 2012 to 2025, at the UAD Faculty of Architecture, he has been teaching Sculpture I in the Visual Arts degree program. Initially, he led the Experimental Sculpture Workshop.
He is currently in charge of the Creative Development Workshop at the Casa de la Cultura de Buctzotz.
